I’ve always said Eastvale  was an online powerhouse. With 1600+residents in our discussion forums, hundreds on Facebook,  and our recent elections (which online polls were pretty spot-on) , our online community is shaping the city. The newest evidence of that is Avery Dennison’s  New National Contest. They are holding an online contest for schools. It’s easy. The top 10 schools votes on get $10,000 for their schools for supplies. The contest ends August 31st. They encourage you to vote daily. Currently, here is how the Eastvale Schools line up. Currently Eastvale has two schools in the top 10 and Harada Elementary in 12th place. Please visit http://averydennisongivebacktoschools.com/ to vote!!!!

The moment I left the safety of my mom’s blue Ford Expedition, a seemingly bland landscape met my eyes. The powdery white cement was perfectly void of blackened gum stains, shoe prints, and any other stains one would expect to see on the floor of a public high school. I slowly made my way past stubby, freshly planted palm trees and entered what was to be my new high school. The first thing I noticed was the huge, gaping hole in the building to my right: half the school was still under construction. Years later I would reminisce about how beautiful a view the nearly nonexistent building provided of snowcapped mountains in the winter and vibrant sunrises in the spring. The second thing I noticed was how new everything felt—and I don’t mean it in a good way. Sure, the architecture and amount of new technology installed in the place was great but there was something missing. The campus felt lifeless; it was like I was wearing a brand new pair of stiff shoes and now faced the blistering task of breaking into them.

SURVEY INDICATES EASTVALE RESIDENTS IN FAVOR OF INCORPORATION

EastvaleResidents.com, community website and discussion forum, conducted an anonymous survey of its members with 509 of them responding.  The unincorporated community of Eastvale will be going to the polls to vote on cityhood on June 8.

According to the survey, Eastvale’s registered voters are in favor of Eastvale becoming its own city with almost 75% of those planning to vote responding that they will be voting yes on Measure A.  Of those who responded against the measure, their reasons included that they did not feel the community would have the revenue to sustain itself and 32% indicated that they were in favor of incorporation but not yet.

Kid party ideas are always so much fun. There is such an energy (craziness) with kids parties.

The top 5 themes for kids parties are:

1. Pirate party - Always number one for any boy giving a party. There's just something "cool" about pirates.

a. Invitation - Treasure map in a glass bottle with sand and shells.
b. Decor - A plank coming up to the front of the boat (door), Jolly Roger flapping in the wind (printed off flag taped to helium balloons)
c. Games & activities - Walk the plank with sharks and crocodiles waiting below, Sea War, get to know you booty box.
d. Food - Volcano cheese with chips, captains fingers dipped in blood (sugar cookies with red frosting) served in a pirate ship tray and pirates blood to drink.
e. Party favor - Photo of the guest with the captain as well as the booty bag from the treasure hunt or piñata.

2. Princess Party

nullSome of the most common New Year resolutions have to do with improving health and fitness. Many people have the same resolutions year after year - and people all over the world share these goals: "lose weight," "exercise more," "eat better" and such.

But why is it that a great deal of our health resolutions fizzle out after just a month or two? Some say that we're just not dedicated or willing or motivated enough. I disagree.

There are a few things that can ruin most common New Year resolutions, and stacking up these failures takes a toll on our morale and motivation, the very things we need to keep experiencing progress towards those goals!

One key thing that makes many resolutions virtually impossible to achieve is that the goal is too general or vague. Have you ever made a resolution that was really general? Were you able to achieve it?

There are plenty of families who sit down every year to be thankful and share no more tradition than watching football and eating turkey. While those are great times to have together, there is so much more that can be added to the holidays. When everyone gets involved, the kids grow up having richer, fuller lives that they look back on with fond memories.

Create Tree Trimmings

While you have the friends and family over to your house for Thanksgiving, why don't you get everyone involved in helping with your Christmas decorations? Buy a few supplies. Let the kids do all the drawing, gluing, cutting and creating. Adults can help with the difficult parts and add their own touches here and there.

nullSince 2004 I have had network music. I have a pretty vast MP3 collection and have always wanted to play them all on my home theater system. Think of a song, call it up on the computer and play on the big system. It makes parties great, or, at least it did ‘way’ back in 2004.

Having never been able to afford a "real" Home Music system that would come with the new house and cost big bucks, I have used network music as my way to affordably get music on demand. As of the last few years, I even tried Slim Devices Slim Server and have been reasonably happy with it. Logitech purchased them over a year ago and they have a slick new product that integrates Pandora, Rhapsody and many other online services. My MP3 collection is now secondary to the online music services.

The problem? Well, they were never a Sonos system. I looked into Sonos in 2005 as I continued my quest for the perfect wireless music system. The problem frankly was price. They are pricier. I always wondered why Sonos systems were much more expensive than what else was out there.

I now have a Sonos system and can finally tell you why they cost more. It works. Plain and simple, it works like it should. No skips, easy to setup, no stalls, no music stopping in the middle of a party (and a few drinks in), no problems.

Pumpkins will be one the items you will see everywhere you go during Fall.

They will be in every shape and size. I want to give you some unique tips to decorate them for the fall season.

   1. Paint your pumpkins to match your décor.

   2. Use decorative ribbon and hot glue it around your pumpkins on the horizontal.

   3. Use a skewer rod and stack miniature pumpkins from large at the bottom to gradually smaller towards the top.
