Hello, can anyone refer me to a doctor who specializes in this problem. I have been having tingling and numbness of my right wrist, forearm and shoulder. Im not sure if its carpal, but its been everyday now for about 1 week. I need to get this checked before it gets worse. Has anybody else experienced this? If so please advice. Thank you

Maybe see your family Dr first so they can order xrays, mri, etc....Then they will send you to specialist along with your films for further results and possible options to fix it.

I don't know how your medical insurance works, but if you can self refer (like with a PPO) go straight to an orthopedist's office. I've had one wrist corrected with surgery and may have to do it again since it's been 12 years, but my family (yes, the entire family needs orthopedists, ugh) to a large office up off Magnolia (back behind the Vons plaza at Magnolia/Ontario).
An MRI is unlikely, but they will do xrays. I was also sent to a neurologist for nerve testing. They attached small electrodes and sent small electrical pulses through my arm to test nerve reactions. As it turns out, when your nerves are being pinched to certain degrees, it causes permanent nerve damage. I have virtually no sensation in two of my fingertips. Be sure to get it checked out at your earliest opportunity!
Good luck!

BTW, if it's only been a week, still could be tendonitis...much easier to resolve.

I have had the same problem for the last year in a half. My Ortho doctor is Prabu Dhalla and he is located in downtown Riverside. (951)787-4880

Marcie - pay attention to this...if it's been awhile since your last nerve conduction study and you still have numbness, you might want to have another one.
I am speaking from experience - since the tingling and numbness goes all the way up your arm, you are more likely suffering from Cubital Tunnel Syndrome.
The Cubital Tunnel is in your elbow. It is your Ulnar nerve being compressed and causing the numbess and tingling.
I am home right now recovering from this surgery. I had my right arm done last year and had the left done last week.
My doctor and surgeon is #1 in fixing this problem. He specializes in hand/wrist/shoulder issues. His office does accept many different insurance companies.

OMG!! you guys are scaring me. Surgery?? Marcy, I did schedule an appt. for Monday to see an Orthopedic by the name of Dr. Rouhe. He is located at 341 Magnolia Suite 101 in the Corona Village Medical plaza off Ontario. Is this the same place you go? If anybody has gone to this Orthopedic group, please let me know what your experience was like. Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's the place, although we have seen a few different doctors there. With me and 3 athletes in the family, we tend to go a lot (knock on wood...haven't been in 9 months now). Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

How long is the recovery time on a surgery of this nature? I know I am going to need surgery on my right shoulder. I have been suffering with the pain for a couple of years but ignored it because I was able to tolerate it. Now I've noticed the pain starts off in my shoulder and works its way down to my wrist. Pumping gas has become a challenge for me. I can't pick up anything heavy like the liquid laundry detergent.
I am excellent when it comes to taking my kids to the doctor, dentist, eye doctor etc..but when it's for myself - I'm horrible!! The last time I have seen a doctor was when my son was born.....12 years ago!!

Depends on how fast you heal. My first surgery, I was off work for 3 weeks. This time, by the time I return to work, I will have been off for 2 1/2 weeks.
