View Full Version : About User Titles
They are originally meant to be a promotion type of deal. So many posts, you get a pre-defined title, like Karie's. I thought of, 100 posts, freshman, 200 posts sophmore, etc.
But they are open now and as long as people do not put things inappropriate or something like a website then I think I'll allow.

They can be fun! ......within certain limits though lol
Yeah, I want this to be a fun place. It almost feels like a huge Mansion with huge rooms to play in. The Yahoo Group seems like such a bore compared to this. My 2 cents anyway.

Mike,
Take a look at that forum I just pm'd you. They have lots of incentives in place for post count titles, premium memberships that are allowed to post for sale things (things to support the cost of the server, stuff like that). That might give you some ideas.

I like the user titles. I hope that they don't get abused and then have to become restricted.:( (praticing using smilies)
I feel the same. We will have issues, I am sure. I cannot imagine not having issues when we have, say 1,000+ users.

practicing a bump :p
Well there we have it, we are an official forum now, we have a bump.
The only thing missing to complete the official cristening of the forums it for someone to post the word "first" after a Admin post.
Its a thing on all official game forums, some idiot thinks he is special because he was the first one to post after an admin posts something.

Bumping is adding a post so that the topic goes back to the top of the topic list. i.e. "bump"ing it to the top.
It is often usefull if an important topic somehow has a small period of activity and moves down the page, or onto another page, but the poster wants it to get back on the front page so other people notice the post.
On really fast moving forums, if you post something, it could be off of the front page in minutes. The only way to get it back to the top is for someone else to reply to your post, or, for you to /bump it.

Generally people use it if you needed some info and nobody responded. After it gets 2 or 3 pages deep people don't generally read that far back into general threads; then if you still needed some help you would post "bump" to bring it back to the first page and people will usually reply with an answer or someone may offer advice on where else you should look.
Yeah, since I'm totally vain, I'm going to bump all of my posts so I'm always at the top. LOL! Scuse me, gotta get my bump on!
