Mike, I set all my posts to only send me a notice daily, not instant. I did this a few minutes ago and it still is sending me emails whenever somone posts a message. Does this take some time for the changes to be effective?

Mike, I made a correction. Lupe found it too. When you reply to a message, there is a reply, then below that, there are options. Below that is ANOTHER reply, which means reply with options. The default option for the e-mail notification was instant e-mails.
I just changed that for new subscribers. You can change it in your CP. It is basically an opt-in system now instead of an opt-out. It now defaults to subscribe, but no emails. Users can change that IF THEY WANT E-MAILS.

I have to be honest. I really hate email notifications.
I have set my user options to No email notification, and I'm still getting tons of them. Currently, I have had to set up a rule in outlook to delete them, but the board is still sending them

Misty, check your CP under subscribed threads as well. from my post above, I had an opt-out system so your threads are automatically subscribed if you submitted with options. I had this on while I was testing, but did not realize some people might not want it.
There is an amin function to reset everyone to the no-e-mail default, but I have not done this.
There is a link that says View all Subscribed Threads in your CP when you are looking at your thread subscriptions.

It must be working because I haven't received any emails from about 10pm last night. I like being able to opt-in for emails if there is a subject I want to be involved in. Most things I reply to I can wait until I log back in to see what's new.
For instance, if you posted "I lost my dog" the instant email would be helpful.

Remove the thread notifications
There is a difference between subscription and notification, however.
At my other v-bulletin forums, I am *subscribed* with "no email notification."
I do this to get the list of threads I've posted in, in my User CP list. This makes it convenient to find replies to any of my posts. However, the User CP options has an option "no email notification" which I make a point to always select that option. When that option is selected, you will see at the bottom of each reply box a list for "Thread Subscriptions" again, it shows "no email notification".
Despite that, I was still getting the emails. If it is properly set up, you should not have to unsubscribe to threads to turn off email notification. They are two seperate entities.
I had a filter set up last night to automatically delete these emails as they came in. I saw this morning one still came through, though it may have been from last night. I just deleted that filter, and I'll let you know if I'm still getting them. I do want to keep my suscriptions, just no email notification. I do believe that when the mass transfers over, they probably will become frustrated with notifications.
fwiw, :) :)
I agree and understand. Let me know, just keep posting it. I love that when people start coming over, there'll be a kind of built-in knowledge base for them based on there posts.
