What the heck is a "closed" topic?
Why is it "Closed"?
Is this site about "Who Killed Diane Jenkins"? as opposed to topics of interest to the community of Eastvale such as taxes and amenities?
If so, I guess I'm done. I have sincerely appreciated the efforts of Mike and Lupe in establishing this valuable Site. I have found it less restrictive than that YAHOO group; but, now I'm starting to wonder. If a little healthy discussion about important issues is too controversial for some then they don't have to read it. Mike and Lupe? Are you paying for the server space? Is that why it is so important to censor conversations on here? I'll donate a few bucks for added memory.
Community discussions/conversations don't always lend themselves to pretty "threads". That's what FAQs are for.
I abhor censorship. Even if I strongly and vehemently disagree with you I won't hold that disagreement against you and I would never stop you from expressing it. Freedom of Speech doesn't include what you say in someone else's house, so I know it doesn't apply in Mike and Lupe's; but, if this site is going to be censored because someone doesn't like a little controversy or the topic doesn't fit in some nice little thread then I have little or no use for it.
I hope that this post is read for the attempted constructive criticism it was meant to be. If it makes a difference I'll stick around whether you like it or not (LOL); but, if it is going to be a censored site then I will go back to the yahoogroup I started and I'll start to promote it a little.
Sincerely,
Max

Get your facts straight Max. The pool question was answered so the thread was closed. The remaining discussion evolved into a debate whether the city should build a community pool so those posts were MOVED to their own thread where everyone can discuss THAT TOPIC to their hearts content.
If a discussion is community related, I do sincerely try to keep those going, but if it's a non-community related discussion in the wrong place, it will be removed. If it's a thread going way off topic, active members who are usually participating in the tangent should know better and should move the discussion to a new thread. Otherwise, they risk their replies being deleted as "off topic".

I understand what you are saying, but I believe that there is a difference between deleting comments and threads that Lupe doesn't agree with and deleting or moving items that are inappropriate or in the wrong place. A lot of these threads get WAY off topic. This usually starts when someone decides to be mean or make a smart-*ss comment that brings no value to the discussion. Keeping things on track helps the functionality of the site and allows it to bring much more value. I believe that keeping control of the trolls brings equal benefit.
I have had the conversation with Mike and Lupe on several occassions. Believe me, there are people out there that make their blood boil. It would be a simple matter for Mike and Lupe to remove them from the site entirely. They could also delete the comments that are in open disagreement with them. They choose to not do that. As such, I am not prepared to say that they are practicing censorship. If I did, I would not be a part of this site either.

My apologies if I got my facts wrong. However, the topic I attempted to post in seemed to be about "building" a pool and spending tax money on it. I tried to post and it said "topic closed". This topic, for some reason, seemed to start with my wife commenting on the possible problems with building a city pool which was obviously an answer to a previous post somewhere.
Again, If I'm wrong my humble apologies.

Okay, let me check. I closed the "is there a pool" thread. Maybe the moved threads are closed too. It's possible, and if so, I will reopen that thread and i apologize. A simple PM would have done though without accusing us of censorship.
Tom hit the nail on the head though, "Keeping things on track helps the functionality of the site and allows it to bring much more value." We want people to be able to find the info in a thread without wading through unrelated stuff.

Totally agree with Lupe, keep the value in this site.... Some members can be extremely rude and sarcastic, so unnecessary... I have known of a couple of people who have cut this site for those reasons, that are a waste of time
