Mike,

This is something I was thinking would be a great idea, and after hearing about your missing dog, I was reminded to make this suggestion.

Is there a way that you can put a banner that would be up at the top of the page that would cycle through pictures (thumbnail) and description of any missing pets in the area.

I don't know if there is a way you could set up a script that would find any posts in the lost pets forum. Maybe you could have a dialog box format for submissions, and your script could automatically put a banner up at the top of each page here that would cycle through any thumbnails and brief description of missing pets, if anyone clicked on the picture, it would take them to that missing pet post where they could find more info.

I think this would be a great way to get this alert out, especially as this site starts increasing in traffic. I believe this would be a feature that would really be great for the Eastvale community.

Is something like that even possible?

What do you think?

PS...I went driving around looking. I haven't seen any dogs around...:(

This is a good idea Misty. I get what you are saying. The problem is uploading and management of the "banner". The banner code is easy.

For what we have now I think is OK. Pictures inside posts, until I have more time.

We have GeekWalkers and our boot at the Picnic in the Park (along with my Eastvale Computer Services Booth) on Back-To-Back Weekends. When these are over, I will have time to implement some really cool stuff here like what you are talking about.

Keep those ideas coming thanks for the dog effort.

How long have you two been married? I learned, LONG ago (we've been married for 16 years, I think) that the fastest way to get him to do something was to start doing it myself. :-) "Honey, where's the <insert name of power tool here>; I'm going to fix <insert name of project here>" is practically guaranteed to get him moving. I'll never forget the time I was going to rebuild the hub on our tandem bicycle. He couldn't get over there fast enough to help :-)

that wouldn't work here. He'd sit back and think, "oh good, she can handle it." I normally would do the blinds, but i'm too short to do these and i can't get the leverage to drill the holes when i'm on the ladder. and the latch; he busted it, so he should fix it; don't want the dogs getting out again!
