Default How do I quote.....

Silly question but how do I only quote a portion of a post then write something then post another portion?

Whe you click on the QUOTE button, the text copies over between brackets like this:

{quote=doglver;7983]Not silly, I had the same question but, I didn't want to ask. [/quote}

You can edit anything between the words in bracket - I put the part you can edit in red above. Just don't change anything in the brackets.

But once you Edit and only have the words that you want to quote. How do you go back and quote more of the post later on in your post? How do people get only the portion they want to quote in those little shaded boxes more than once? Does that make since?

You can quote the original post again and edit it differently
or
Quote the edited one and then copy and paste the text you want to add in between the bracketed parts.

OK I pust quote then it took me to the screen to write my post. I can't see anyones posts at this point. Now I want to quote the rest of your post. But I already edit (deleted) those words now how do I get thos words I deleted to quote below this, and to have it in a shaded box?

As I write there is no quote button nor I can't see your post. I know this shouldn't be brain surgery. I'm sure it is really simple just not getting it.

If I don't push the button on the person post that I want to post. I notice in the quick reply box below is Options: Options
"Show your signature" "Quote message in reply?" (it won't allow me to push the quote message in reply) Does this have anything to do with quoteing?

But once I push button then it takes me to another screen and then I can no longer see the : "OptionsShow your signature" or
"Quote message in reply?"

If there's additional text in the second quote it's because the person went back to the unedited original and quoted that one again.

They may have also broken it into parts by framing it within the quote commands {quote] text {/quote] (replace the { with [)

Linda, it's a pain in the butt, but this is what I do. I hit the quote button, then I copy the entire section first, then make the changes I want. After that, if I want to quote another part of the same post, I just click paste after my comment, then the whole thing comes up again and I make changes to that one. You see?
