Default Posting on a blackberry?

Another hurdle, or, something we may want to consider is Dickie simmons often posts with his blackberry.

It seems since he is such a big part of the ER forum we should be ready to explain to him how he can still post without too much of a change to the way he already does stuff

I can look at the site on my Motorola razr, I cant imagine that you couldnt do the same with a blackberry.

Anybody else tried using a black berry to post? Or a motorolla Q, or any PDA type phone for that matter?

(i used the Check if already posted and nothing came up.)

Here is the way I do it on my treo.

I made the forum home page my home page on my Treo and I clicked the box "remember me" that way I never have to log in. I go to my home page and there it is. I see unread messages up top, I can post or do whatever I need. I do use it in full screen mode to make it easier to see, but it works very well for me.

I also have all new postings go to my e-mail and my treo receives all of my email, so many times, like at lunch, I just sit back and read from my treo, what is happening, when I click the link in the email it takes me to the message.

The only "problem" most will have, like Dickie is that you just cannot reply to the e-mail. I like that you cannot do this because it is happening far too often on the yahoo group. That's why there are so many people unhappy. Dickie uses that feature the way it is supposed to work, but unfortunately, too many people just do not understand that and reply to the group when they do not intend to.

Here, ok, so you click on the link to go to the post. You have to really intend to make a post. This is not an e-mail group. There are lots of people who know this and when they push their business, they know it is going to "900" email boxes, so why not get a quick mention to 900 of your neighbors? Then it becomes a spammers paradise, as I believe it already has, or is getting very close. Here, that will not happen. Repeated abusers will be dealt with in many different ways. We all take into account people will need to find their way and get used to things here, that is fine. But over time, when people know what they are doing and find ways to get around the rules (such as spamming by our PM system) we will stop them. Cold.

This place will be an amazing place for businesses to get local exposure, but they will have their place to do that in. I am already working on a killer add-on for this board just for that purpose.

Boy, did I go off on a tangent or what?

I have been using my Blackberry from Nextel with no problems except it is a little slow. If he has any other service provider he won't have any problems at all. If he has Verizon or Sprint it should fly. It is different but I actually like going to the board here from my blackberry than having the thing ringing all day long with email coming in. When looking at it on the blackberry the icons will show up in a vertical fashion like the ones with the fonts will be vertical, not horizontal but they still work. Also you won't be able to post emoticons in your message, not a deal breaker.

Like Mike said I have it bookmarked in my browser and have it set to auto log me in. Once in I just click on the "check for new posts" button and everything is fine. If he has used any other forums before he will no what to expect.

Overall it is a little more inconvenient than sending an email but I don't think it's a deal breaker and the pro's far outweigh the cons.

Another option would be to download the opera mini browser. It has less features than the blackberry browser but it looks very close to the way it is on the computer. (I'm using it right now)

Mike, if you get a chance check it out. I think they make it for your phone as well and let me know what you think

I use a Treo 700W and I browse fine. I even approve new users from the Admin Panel from it.
