Social Group Announcements

We have Social Groups here on the site and I will start a thread where people who start a new group can post their announcement. I have a new group in mind, So I will start one off.

This way, you can ignore the thread if you do not wish to see every announcement of new groups.

The thread will be in Hobbies/Interest Forum.

Click on the group name. look below the group announcement and you sill see Pending & Invited Members

Click it and start typing the USERNAMES of the people you want to invite. It is done one by one. Once you type three characters of their username you get the drop down search so it really does not take long to invite, say 10 people.

Here is a nice tip if you are doing this.
Once you see the invite user, click on the menu on the right called Quick Links and click the Contacts Popup. It pops up a new window with your friends on it, so it makes it easy to look at usernames that way without navigating away.

The best way to find definitions or how things work is to look at the FAQ from the top menu. It really has most answers people have. Here is a paste from the Social Groups:

What is a social group?
A social group is a group of people usually with a particular interest or something else in common. It provides a way of communicating between members as well as sharing photos or other images.
You can get to the list through 'Group Memberships' section on your public profile (?).
The Social Groups list page displays all groups that have been created. You can list the groups by the number of members, messages or pictures, the group name, when the group was created or by the date of the most recent message posted. You can use the controls provided to search for a group.
How do I join a group?
To join a group, click the group title then click 'Join Group'. When you have joined a group, its name will be shown in your public profile. You must be a logged-in, registered member to join groups.
Can I create my own social group?
As a registered member, you can create your own social group (providing the administrator allows this). Go to the groups page and click 'Create A New Group'. Complete the title and description for your group then select the type. There are three types of groups:

• Public - open to everyone. There is no restriction on who can join or who can post messages to it

Just watch a few groups for a while to see how they are used, then you will get the idea.
