This company goes under two seperate addresses. One is in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. And one in Eastvale in the residential area. I'm guessing that their BBB listing was getting too many negative reviews, so they deleted it and made a new one using someone's home address.
This business is horrible!!!! There are two contacts, Phil and Rod. I still don't know which one is the owner. They seem to lack in communication with each other.
We got an estimate on May 11, 2010. We placed our order the same day and gave a 50% deposit. BIIIIIIIG GIANT MISTAKE!!!!
It is now August 4, 2010. We still do not have our plantation shutters installed.
Our install date was suppose to be the end of June, 4-6 weeks after initial order. Contacted the company to check on status, was told that it will be another 2 weeks. Sure no problem. We call them back in 2 weeks, and now we're being told that our "supposed" order arrived but with mold on the pieces. Uh huh, suuuuuure! They will need to reorder and it will be another 4 weeks. End of July!
My boyfriend spoke w/ them and just said okay, and once the end of July rolls around, they postponed it for another week. August 4th!!!
Guess what today is! AUGUST 4th!!!! They were suppose to arrive at 11:30am. Someone called us at 11am claiming the installers were stuck in traffic from LA. (We live in Corona.) Said they'll be there at about 1pm.
1:15pm comes around, we get another call from someone else saying they are just leaving LA and is stuck in traffic. HUH???? WTF???? Said they'll be there at around 4pm for sure!
What kind of business is this? This was truly the biggest mistake to ever go with this company. We only did because a friend used them and recommended them. But I will never trust a friend's recommendation again w/o further research. This is pretty darn ridiculous!!!

DO NOT USE -- My summary below:
Rod Knight door-knocked for my business shortly after I moved in. Very friendly, pleasant at that time. Also seemed to know the shutter business very well. He stated that he had done the custom shutters for the builder on my home (I had purchased a model). Rod recited from memory the shutters already installed previously in my house.
I told him what I needed. Gave him a deposit that day.
After a two weeks passed, I called Rod multiple times with no answer. He finally called and announced installation date and time, which was a month after I had made the original order. The installers arrived four hours late on the scheduled day -- And they were in a hurry. The installer stated that he was racing to catch a flight out of town for vacation.
The short story is that the work was subpar. The shutters do not match the previously installed shutters; Rod said and promised multiple times that no problem, they would match. The shutters have gaps in between each shutter; when closed, rows of light still come in. The installer stated that's just the way some shutters are out of the factory. On one of our bathroom windows, the bottom section of the shutter frame was cut away because it was too big; in hindsight, I believe that Rod did not measure that window, just eyeballed it.
The installer did not put it in all of the pegs that hold the shutters to the frame when you close them. He only put one (rather than all four).
I've called Rod many times during the 3 months after the installation. Simply no return calls. I have filed complaints with the BBB, as well as online.
DO NOT USE
I was really sorry to read patee333's experience above. I wish I had posted the review of the business here, but I did not know this bulletin board had this.

big mistake dealing with this company/person. the guy's just a middle man, an order taker. he doesn't care about quality of work or if the customer's happy. he will get your order and money. order from different manufacturers, probably whoever gives the best margin. anyway, promised he will have the shutters ready by 4-6 weeks. no! more like 3-4 months. the reason, according to him they come from barstow and blah blah blah. i asked the guy who brought them and he says we're (the manufacturer) based in chino.
WTF!
this rod's a liar!
he never follows up. you call him and he never answers (because he screens his calls, probably to many angry customers). he makes up excuses! just outright lies!
after delivery. there are serious defects with his shutters and you can't find him anywhere. doesn't answer his calls. and if he does , he turns the tabl;es on you and says i called you up but you never answer.
i can go on and on about this guy. at the end its your decision if you want to go with him. i strongly suggest to do your research. go with someone else. i don't know who, probably its better to go with the "bigger companies".
my experience with this guy wasn't good. now i'm spending money again because i'm ordering my window coverings from another company.
big mistake doing business with this guy!

More like KNIGHTMARE EXPRESS. All of the other posters are correct, horrible customer servie, no return phone calls, product not received, he even decided to resort to profanity and blame his non performance on US!
go to http://www.cslb.ca.gov/CONSUMERS/Fil...AComplaint.asp
and file a complaint. The license number he gave us is #901434
but that is probably a lie as well.

We had the same problems that everyone else has stated. The other problem that we found out after one of our kids accidentally broke on of the blinds is that they are not made out of real wood. Not a single piece of the shutter is. We were told they were 100% bass wood. It is compressed particle board. So, check yours out but good luck with getting anywhere. Again, like everyone has said it is impossible to get anyone to respond or answer any calls.

10 week wait time
|
|
First the negative. Rod Knight (the owner I presume) promissed us shutters installed within 4-5 weeks. Well, 10 weeks went by with nothing but today they finally arrived. Now the positive. Honestly, Rod was so over the top concerned with customer service and making sure we were happy that I thought we were getting scammed. When the shutters didn't arrive after 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 weeks, I was worried. But today (10 weeks later) they were installed by a group of four guys in about 40 minutes. The crew was so polite they took their shoes off before entering our home and the main guy even took the time to grab a paper towell and wipe our infants runny nose. The shutters look absoulutely stunning. We just can't stop staring at them and appreciating how fantastic they make our home look. The shutters are a perfect fit on my custom windows and block out nearly 100% of the light (which means longer naps for the kids.) They really look amazing. Now that we know Rod's deal was not too good to be true, I am recommending him to family and friends. He outquoted Cotsco, Home Depot and our builder's design center. It was a long, long wait but definitely worth it. I would type more but I need to go enjoy our new shutters.

Customer Service and Follow Through

We wanted Plantation shutters and we got them, almost 2 months later than promised. The only reason we got them is because we went to the manufacturer. Knight Express tells you they are the manufacturer but that is a lie. He is just a salesman and the guy making these shutters, Bobby is located up near Ontario Airport. I went to his shop 2 times after bugging Rod enough and threatening a police report because they could not find our bathroom drawer we had given them to color match. After going up and finding the drawer myself I only dealt with Bobby after that. Do not use Knight Express. The price is tempting but the hassle is not worth it!
We are satisfied with the job that Bobby did on our shutters and they have looked great in our home for 1 year now. I wish I had his number still I would post it up and give him the direct business. I told him to stop dealing with Knight Express and he said he was thinking about it. I do not know if they still do business together or not. Hope this is helpful!

Rod was Nice until Deposit. Product "Ok."

Negative aspects of the product (cons):

Rod is a sales guy who plays the cash flow game leaving you to wait, wait and fight if you want your product.
|
|
I placed on order with Rod on Sep 28th, 2010. He was very nice during the consultation, pretty fast to count the windows and of course sold the 100% bass wood shutters. He was helpful during selection and took his 50% deposit. I did business with him because my neighbor also did business with him, he is retired LAPD now PI, so I figured he was reputable.
I never heard anything from Rod until the 5 week point. I was out in front of my house and was approached by a guy from Pacific Shutter soliciting my business. He asked who I had ordered them from; when I relied he smiled and told me to check out EastvaleResidents.com then said I might be waiting a while. Strangely enough before I could ask another question Rod from Knight drives up, jumps out of his car and starts talking to be about calling me next week on my install, blah, blah blah. As soon as I walk away he goes after the Pacific Blinds guy and they have a verbal altercation outside my house.
I quickly do some research on him and his company. I found there information here on EastvaleResidents and saw the BBB was contacted 15 times or more. Typically people don’t contact the BBB because they are overly satisfied. I also run a check in the Riverside County Court system for his name and company, which I found there were two cases on record and one with a judgment against him but paid in full.
After not hearing from Rod when he said I called him, leaving a Voice Mail, let him know that I was expecting his call, didn’t hear from him and found some disturbing information about his company which I wanted to speak with him about. He called back very quickly saying that he was going to call next week with the installation date, blah, blah, blah and that the information I had seen was from relatives of other blind company reps just posting negative reviews and I should be concerned. He give his customers nothing but the best and he’s not going to screw anyone.
The next week passes without me hearing from him and I leave another voicemail. I let him know that my window of tolerance for tardiness on this business transaction was very small due to what I have observed and that I was going to demand my money back because the contract was beyond the 6 weeks he has promised (and written). When he called me back he was just hot, raising his voice, talking real fast (most of which I couldn’t make out), but saying he’s a small business owner just trying to get by and he always takes care of his customers… on and on. I was surprisingly calm and told him this was a business transaction, he took a 50% deposit it cashed and 6 weeks had elapsed and I didn’t have product. So I expected it to be installed next week or he will be served with a demand for my deposit back. He began to argue the Symantec’s of the “3-day” cancelation terms and that can’t count as “contracted time.” I told him I didn’t care and was willing to do what was necessary to make myself whole in this business transaction and he had until the end of the 6th week to contact me with an installation date.
I hear from him saying “bobby” was going to call me the Friday of the 6th week to schedule an install. That time passes and I call him back an demand my money back. He calls the next morning with an install date of the 8th week. At this point I wanted this drama over with so I agree.
That next Monday comes and I hear from “Bobby” apparently they don’t have the materials necessary to make what I ordered. So I had to settle for something less or I was going to wait a few more weeks. I had to compromise on the lover size to see my blinds before Thanksgiving. (Remember I ordered Sept 28th).
“Bobby” and team came as promised, on time and with all the product and tools. His team was is hurry but nice (I think it’s just the business). The product is ok, at least from what I can tell its wood, but the color is off and the sliding door shutter frame is crap. They had to “custom” cut it on my kitchen floor with hand tools. I asked “Bobby” when he received the order and he said “last week” (i.e. the day or two before he called me about the material shortage). Basically Rod takes the deposit, lives on it until he can make another sale, and then place the order for XX houses previous as cash flow permits. And it was very obvious I was not the only peeved customer; even the install guys knew about knight’s reputation of being “late” on delivery. Rod is just a sales guy that outsources the work to “Affordable Blinds” in Rancho Cucamonga. Save yourself the time and go to them directly. Their number is 909-226-1105 or 909-451-1230. I am sure they will give you a better price without a salesman in the middle. People have commented that they are nice looking but time will tell on the overall quality
And what about my neighbor you ask? Well they ordered their blinds several days before me and they are still waiting…
This is just not the way I prefer to do business. Contract 4-6 Week Delivery; Actual 7 1/2 with a lot of oversight.
